Access and inclusion

The Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission is committed to making its information, services and facilities accessible to people with a disability and people with language difficulties.

The Commission’s website is designed in line with accessibility standards and various accessible methods have been devised for contacting the Commission. Accessible facilities are also available in our building for people visiting our Registry, hearing or conference rooms.

Help for Non-English speakers

Calling the Commission

If you need an interpreter to help you contact the Commission, call the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) on 131 450. TIS is a phone interpreting service available to individuals or organisations in Australia having difficulty accessing services and information over the phone.

If you need an interpreter for proceedings at the Commission, general interpreters for non-English speakers are provided for people with language barriers to ensure they have equal access to justice. Prior bookings are necessary, so please contact the Registry at your earliest convenience.

Appearing at the Commission

AUSLAN interpreters are available free of charge to people who are deaf or hard of hearing when appearing at the Commission. Prior bookings are essential, so please contact the Commission at your earliest convenience.

Facilities at the building

Accessible parking

While the building is unable to provide onsite accessible parking, all day accessible parking is available at the following locations: 

  • Westralia Square, Perth at 141 St Georges Terrace (entry via Mounts Bay Road)
  • Central Park Car Park, Perth at 152 – 185 St Georges Terrace

In addition, an accessible pick up and set down parking bay is available on Hay Street, Perth (near the corner of William Street). For more information, please visit City of Perth Accessible Parking.

Building access

Ramp access to the building at 111 St Georges Terrace (corner St Georges Terrace and William Streets) is available at the St Georges Terrace entrance. All building entrances are fitted with electronic sliding door access activated by push buttons.

Elevators

The building’s elevator system is fitted with accessibility features, including sound and light signals for people with vision or hearing impairments. Please ask the Concierge if you require assistance.

Hearing loops

Hearing loops are available at the Registry on Level 17, as well as the Hearing and Conference Rooms on Level 18.

Accessible toilets

Accessible toilets are available on the Ground Floor of the building and on Level 18. For more information about accessible toilets outside the building, please visit the City of Perth Accessibility page
